Sangiovese and Merlot. Luce is the flagship wine of Tenuta Luce, the Frescobaldi group's Montalcino estate founded in the early 1990s with Robert Mondavi, conceived as the meeting point between the structure of Sangiovese and the roundness of Merlot. Intense ruby red in colour, Luce 2020 stands out on the nose for its complexity and elegance, with ripe black fruits, particularly blackberry and mulberry, joined by cocoa and sweet spice. Harmonious and lively in the mouth, with excellent structure, balanced by vibrant acidity and soft, silky tannins that give an elegant, persistent finish. The two varieties are fermented separately in temperature controlled stainless steel, with malolactic fermentation carried out in barriques, before an extended ageing regime in oak that gives the wine its depth and cellaring potential.
